Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a huge hit! We had Garrick's family over at my parents house and it was so much fun! The turkey turned out quite nice (Thanks Martha Stewart!) and it was great to spend time with family. My mom is so cute and decorated the house and tables, everything looked so festive. She also got fleece for everyone to make a blanket after dinner. It was a fun idea, we got to talk and watch A Christmas Story. My blanket has cute hearts on it and Garrick's a golf blanket. They are perfect! The best part of the whole Thanksgiving is that a week later I'm still eating leftovers!

Not only did I get to see Garrick's family on Thanksgiving, but they came over to our house and we cut snowflakes, drank hot chocolate, and went to see the Joseph Smith movie and the lights on Temple Square. It was great to see them and I can't wait to see them all again in a few weeks!

The Primary Program

Our ward did the primary program last week, and since Garrick is a primary teacher he got a part. The program was amazing! We only have 10 kids in the ward but they were so great. The program was about families being together forever. The singing was so fun, they knew the songs so well (Garrick couldn't sing, he said that he would be too many octaves lower then the kids!)

I'm so excited for the Hoildays! My stuffing was not the best this weekend, I'll be trying again soon, but in the meantime I've been listening to Christmas music. Garrick and I started buying Christmas decorations this week. We now have some ornaments for our tree! I was inspired because we watched Elf, one of the best Christmas movies off all time! We also picked names for the Smith family gift exchange...I got a pretty good one and did not even have to cheat! I just love Christmas!

Also I just figured out how to upload pictures, this one is the night we got engaged, I was really just excited to post something!

Halloween

Garrick and I had a great Halloween! We got to stay inside, watch a movie, drink hot chocolate, and eat candy! We bought reese's but did not get one trick-or-treater! It was a relaxing weekend, which was great because this week has been busy already. I feel like it should be Friday. I think it's just that I 'm so excited for this weekend. I've been practicing for Thanksgiving (I'm in charge this year and it will be both mine and Garrick's family--I can't wait to see them!) and this weekend will be stuffing. I just love stuffing and I can't wait to try making it!

This week I also wrote a story for a ward activity we are having. I had to write a story from my "history" so I wrote about my trip to China. For those of you who don't know, my family won a trip to China in 2007. We got to tour the Olympic sites and the famous Chinese landmarks. The Great wall was amazing! It brought back such fun memories when I looked at the pictures. I need to make a photo album or something, just to make them easier to look at, so that I can feel happy and blessed all the time!

Officiallly Married!

Garrick and I are officially married now! We just gave our introduction talks this Sunday at our ward. I'd been looking forward to doing it for a long time! I told about where we go to school ect. but I was so nervous I said that Garrick was born in Provo! Defiantly wrong but he corrected it. He also told about how we met. He made it so funny! He talked about how he saw me come into class and wished I would sit near him so he could stare at me (isn't that sweet!) Then he told about his surprise when I sat right next to him! He is cute when he tells stories like that.

Our talks had a "missions of the church theme" mine was Proclaiming the Gospel and his was Perfecting the Saints. The talks went very well and all our cute ward members said nice things, so that was a confidence booster.

Since I'm starting this I feel like I should give some introduction. Garrick and I met at BYU our freshmen year. We started dating about a year after that and then got married this last June. The wedding was perfect! We got married at the Salt Lake Temple and had the reception at a friend's house. Their yard is amazing! The whole day was a fairytale, no problems at all, just fun, family and friends.

As far as intros go I graduated from BYU and am now working on my PhD at the University of Utah. I do cancer research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and LOVE it! Garrick is working on a mechanical engineering degree at BYU and will hopefully finish soon so he does not have to commute anymore. We are both totally in love and so happy with the way our lives are starting together!
